Corruption
Corruption diverts resources from those that are rightfully entitled to them to those that have no right. But at an even more fundamental level corruption destroys private initative and hope. Because corruption destroys the link between effort, initiative and reward it leads to disilllusionment, despair and hopelessness. Those who feel they have no hope then resort to extremism and measures to overthrow what they rightfully perceive to be an unjust system.
